Is modern wheat driving the Type 2 Diabetes epidemic?
Dietary Guidelines for adult men and women on the Australian government’s Healthy Weight website advise that we should be eating between 6 and 8 serves of breads, cereal, pasta and rice every day. This translates into rather a lot of wheat based products throughout the day - starting with cereal or toast for breakfast, the mid-morning muesli bar, wholegrain sandwich for lunch, a couple of biscuits with afternoon tea and then pasta and perhaps a garlic bread to go with it for dinner. If eating such high levels of wholegrains really is the healthiest diet for us, why are [...]
Introducing . . . the 2014 Australian Champion
For quite a while now, we have been lucky to have a really great guy writing our Fitness Blog. His name is Stephane Vander Bruggen and he is a triathlete. He is in fine form to take the gold again this year at the World Championships in China. Stephane loves Cabot Health products - and, in particular, our Magnesium [...]

Is soy a healthy food or not?
By naturopath Margaret Jasinska Soy foods have become a controversial topic recently. Many people are giving up cow’s milk for various reasons and turning to soy milk as an alternative. Is this really a better option though? Many of our patients feel better when they stop consuming cow’s milk and foods that are made of cow’s milk. They have less sinus and hay fever problems; their digestion improves, their skin clears up and itchy rashes often disappear. There is quite a bit of controversy over whether dairy products are responsible for a large range of common health problems, and whether [...]
Find a little love in your heart… for you!
Do you ever acknowledge what a wonderful human being you really are? Unfortunately, most of us don’t. But have you thought about how much you really invest in caring about yourself and taking time to acknowledge how amazing you really are? If not, I recommend it! A bit of self-love is something we should all partake in. We all have our negative qualities and often these are the things that we focus our thoughts on... But what if we do the reverse? Is there any harm in acknowledging that you are an amazing and unique human being? Absolutely not. I [...]
Sacha Inchi Berries! Heard of them?
I ate prayed and (self) loved my way through the Amazon to discover a world full of color, life and super foods I had never heard of. One of which I would like to introduce you to today. When I was 32 I went through what I would say is to date and I know always will be- my life’s greatest challenge, both on a personal and physical level. My then long term relationship broke up- in a very shallow way, and as a consequence of that relationship, I was also unwell, not just emotionally, but physically- I was put [...]

Pomegranates contain high levels of flavonoids and polyphenols, potent antioxidants offering protection against heart disease and cancer. The Antioxidants in Pomegranate keep LDL cholesterol from oxidizing and causing hardening of the arteries known as atherosclerosis. A glass of pomegranate juice has more antioxidants than red wine, green tea, blueberries, and cranberries. [...]
