Do you want to increase your fitness but the idea of ‘exercising’ is daunting to you? There are plenty of ways to increase your fitness without going to boot camp, the gym or doing 100 sit ups per day. Try these 5 fun activities:

1. Go dancing

Wave your hands, wiggle your hips, stomp your feet and feel the beat! Dancing is invigorating, it’s fun and it’s a great workout! A 30-minute dance class could burn up to 250 calories. What are you waiting for? Put on your dancing shoes!

2. Go Bowling

Gather a group of friends, choose a shiny ball and get bowling! Bowling is fun, social and it’s great exercise! Think about it- you are walking to and from the lanes, lifting and swinging a heavy ball, and jumping up and down in excitement when you get a strike.

3. Go kayaking

Pack a picnic, slap on some sunscreen and spend a sunny Saturday paddling down a river. Kayaking strengthens your core muscles, builds cardiovascular health, and gives those arms a good workout.

4. Get hula hooping

Although hula hoops are commonly targeted at kids, there’s no reason why adults can’t hula hoop! Aim to do it for about 10 minutes and have a little fun whilst strengthening those abs. You can even buy a weighted hula hoop to increase the heat!

5. Throw a frisbee

This is cheap, easy and really gets your body moving. You can play it in your backyard or in the park with a friend, family member or even your dog! The best part is, you could burn over 100 calories in just half an hour of frisbeeing!

There you have it! 5 fun types of exercise that will put a smile on your face, whilst shrinking your waist line. Protein, glutamine and magnesium assist with muscle recovery and could be incorporated into your exercise regime.
