Why Use Magnesium
How will I benefit from taking magnesium?
Do you suffer from muscle cramps? Stress? Anxiety? If so, you may be deficient in magnesium. Magnesium is a powerful mineral that is essential for hundreds of chemical reactions that take place in the body every second.
In a perfect world, a diet that contains plenty of nuts, fruits, vegetables and whole grains would provide adequate amounts of magnesium. However, in most parts of the world and for the majority of people, optimal conditions don’t exist. Modern, chemical-rich fertilisers affect the ability of plants to draw magnesium from the soil, and food processing further depletes magnesium. Diets that contain a lot of high-carbohydrate and processed foods increase the need for magnesium, as does stress.
A good magnesium supplement should contain:
- Magnesium Chelate: A highly absorbable form of magnesium by the body which is naturally found in foods. This type is bound to multiple amino acids and used to restore magnesium levels.
- Magnesium Glycinate: Is very well absorbed, thus is effective for anyone with a known magnesium deficiency. It is also less likely to cause laxative effects than other supplements.
- Magnesium Ascorbate: Is a non-acidic form of vitamin C and magnesium. This provides for better absorption of both vitamin C and the magnesium.
- Magnesium Phosphate: Is a chemical admixture that consists of phosphorus and magnesium. In supplement form it can help individuals to receive larger amounts of this chemical element in a shorter period of time.
