World Championships Triathlon

GET FIT & MEAN IT! with World Champion Kate Bramley

You may have seen it mentioned that I am a world champion triathlete. The last few weeks I have been away in Europe preparing for and competing in the age group world championships for triathlon. This is an amateur event held alongside the elite or pro event. It is a great opportunity to compete against the world’s best amateur triathletes, some of which are good enough to race in the lower ranks of the pros but choose to remain as amateurs due to travel or financial constraints amongst others.

I was also coaching at this event and in our team we had 11 athletes ranging from first time competitors at this event to experienced athletes racing for podium positions. I knew I was prepared and ready for this event and I was able to execute the best race I could on the day, coming away with a silver medal in my category. I am very proud of this achievement, but also seeing how well my athletes performed on the day and the sense of achievement they felt crossing the finish line.

Whatever your fitness goal is, I recommend exploring triathlon. It is a sport that appeals to a wide variety of people and you can dedicate as little or as much time as you like to improving your skills and fitness.
