Spiced hot chocolate

A rich hot chocolate with a hint of spice, to warm you up on a chilly day. This is a lovely after-dinner beverage to sip as you’re settling in for the night. Coconut milk is a rich source of lauric acid which is protective for heart health and has antibacterial and antiviral properties, and can help to stabilise blood sugar levels and curb appetite.

Ingredients

  • 2 heaped tbsp of chopped 70% dark chocolate
  • ¼ tsp Nature sweet
  • ½ cup coconut or macadamia milk
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup water
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • Pinch ground star anise
  • 1 tsp maple syrup

Method

  1. Add ingredients to a saucepan on medium heat, stirring until milk is warmed and chocolate is melted through.
