Do you ever acknowledge what a wonderful human being you really are?

Unfortunately, most of us don’t. But have you thought about how much you really invest in caring about yourself and taking time to acknowledge how amazing you really are?

If not, I recommend it! A bit of self-love is something we should all partake in.

We all have our negative qualities and often these are the things that we focus our thoughts on… But what if we do the reverse?

Is there any harm in acknowledging that you are an amazing and unique human being? Absolutely not.

I am definitely not encouraging you to develop an ego problem, but all of us (yes, even you!) have many positive qualities that you could focus your energy on.

You may be a great cook, a hard worker, a parent struggling to do the best for their child, perhaps you knit wonderful scarves or you keep a beautiful garden that is the envy of your neighbours.

You may have many wonderful qualities that you overlook for the sake of paying mind to the negative aspects of yourself. Don’t. It’s a waste of precious energy and the more you focus on how fantastic you are, the better you will get at it.

We all can get a little down on ourselves for many reasons and society doesn’t particularly encourage people to like, let alone love themselves. It’s been drummed out of most of us. I am here to tell you to invest in the person who matters most in your world- you. A good reason to do so, is that unless you look after you then you could potentially lose the ability to look after the people that you care about or that rely on you. It is not selfish. It is self-preservation and enables us to be of service to others!

I am writing this at 1am (not my best attempt at a day of self-preservation!)
I have had a ridiculously busy day and do you know what?

I am a superwoman. But I rarely acknowledge it.

I have successfully made it through a ridiculously hectic day without losing the plot! I have sung my way through a disastrous traffic jam to keep myself calm on the way to an important meeting, whilst most drivers were getting elevated blood pressure.

I should also give some credit to the fact that I took a dose of magnesium before I left home!

I arrived home from work at 6.30pm, picked up my son from football, cooked dinner, spent time with my family and then researched until midnight.

Sometimes you just have to accept that you can’t change things and go with the flow and deal with each moment in the best way you can with the resources that you have. So you may as well make the most of it and look after ‘you’. Who else will do it for you?

You may be blessed to have people who love you. What is it that they love about you?

They love you for being you. You are unique. There is nobody else on the planet like you. So, I encourage you to take some time to nurture your body, mind and spirit… And realize just how special you really are!
